E-Mon's New Dual-Protocol Interval Data Recorders (IDR) Allow Simultaneous RS-485 and Ethernet Communications
"Two-in-One" IDRs allow independent communication with E-Mon Energy software systems AND Building Automation Systems or other front-end monitoring devices.
LANGHORNE, PA — June 25, 2012— E-Mon, the electric submetering market leader and manufacturer of the widely installed E-Mon D-Mon product line, announces the availability of a new Interval Data Recorder (IDR) for collecting kilowatt-hour (kWh) and demand (kW) data from up to 8 or 16 connected meters at user-selectable 15, 30 or 60-minute intervals. A new four-line LCD display shows real-time data, while onboard memory stores up to 72 days of 15-minute interval data accessible via modem, Ethernet, Modbus, BACnet, LonWorks TP or MV-90 for automatic meter reading, energy management integration, billing and more.
Available in two basic models, the eight-meter (IDR-8) and the 16-meter (IDR-16) both offer simultaneous dual-protocol communications for integration with multiple BAS systems, billing packages or M&V reporting. "This capability enables one IDR to talk to two systems at the same time over industry-standard protocols," said Don Millstein, President and CEO. "The value of any metering system investment is greatly enhanced by the ability to pull granular data from one device into two independent systems: (1) a separate billing system and (2) an independent building automation system."
In addition to dual-protocol capability, the IDRs offer an optional Screw Terminal (ST) feature that allows users to gather and store data from third-party pulse-output devices such as electric, gas, water, BTU or steam meters. Now all energy data can be read, reported and analyzed through one point.
Unlike submeters which continuously read energy usage as it occurs, IDRs collect and store meter information at specific time periods, storing the data for later download to E-Mon Energy or other software for load profiling and more detailed comparative analysis or billing. The highly flexible IDR provides a number of communication media options including: Modbus RTU or TCP/IP, BACnet MS/TP or TCP/IP, or LonWorks TP and more. Key features of the dual protocol IDRs include:
- Advanced, four-line LCD showing real-time load (kW) and kWh for each metered point
- Ability to read and record up to 8 or 16 E-Mon D-Mon meters per IDR
